“We have tried so many times already, but we weren’t able to find help”

Those words came to us from a River Pastor serving around Nova Olinda do Norte, Pastor Antonio Mendonça, at the end of August.

You could possibly bcadeira de rodas 2e thinking he was referring to one of his needs or the need of his family member or even a church need. However, we were blessed to hear that he was determined to find help for a lady in his church who had a stroke that left most of her body paralyzed. Since the stroke she has not been able to walk or do much by herself.

Her desire was to have a wheelchair in order to at least go back to cooking, so she could make a living. This pastor did not rest until he was able to do something to change this lady’s scenario, and he did!

As we shared this need with people like you who are connected to JMA/JMI, many partners from Brazil anIMG-20140903-WA0016d the U.S. were willing to take action. A family from Manaus, Amazon, was able to donate a wheelchair within a couple of days and we are so grateful for the ones who choose to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who depend on Him to meet their needs.

We pray God will continue to give us opportunities to love and serve the people along the Amazon River.
