Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
Within the walls of churches and through the sound of our songs, it seems so much easier to feel and see God’s calling upon our lives. Our pastors and leaders will constantly challenge each and everyone of us to do more and be more for the Kingdom of God.
Could you imagine how that would happen in the most remote areas in the world? Where people live mostly in silence, with very little technology, few instruments, and rare workers of the Kingdom.
Yet, God still says their names.
God has called several people we have encountered on river to salvation through Jesus, by revealing himself to them. As we work with pastors and lay leaders of churches along the Amazon river villages, we have been able to witness God calling people out of the Jungle to follow him in growing His Kingdom on Earth.
In February 2014, we had our 3rd Annual Jungle Pastors Conference and almost 40 jungle ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ getting training in several aspects of ministry. One particular young man was part of the Conference, but not know exactly what God was calling him to. As Genis leads so many areas in his church, He knew God wanted him to serve the Kingdom somehow. Not long after the conference, he called our office in Manaus to let us know that he had joined a through-the-mail distance Bible course and someone was actually sponsoring him for his tuition cost. JMI was able to find a sponsor to support him with mailing expenses.
He has surrendered to his call to be a pastor on the River, just like those with whom he spent very special days in Feb, 2014.
We are grateful that God allows us to see his ways and his will being done in the Amazon. Grateful for people like you who believe in what God is doing in the Amazon and choose to be a part of it.
God is still in the business of calling people.
